This has been a hospitable place for travellers for over a century. This picture postcard shows the Ghent Road in Zulte at the turn of the century. The building far left was called Hotel des Voyageurs and had been welcoming strangers since time immemorial. Between 1918 and 1935 it was run by Mr and Mrs René Lefevre sr, grandparents of the present hotelkeeper.
After a short interruption after World War II, it was reopened as a pub in 1956 by Mr and Mrs René Lefevre jr, parents of the present host. Due to modernization of the Ghent Road (N43) the building was demolished in 1971. A new block was constructed, a few meters further back from the road, which, because of a change of plans, was never widened. Yves Lefevre took over the business from his parents, when they retired in 1986. |
